About Us

Mal Tabb is an experienced & well qualified  outdoor practitioner. His main focus in the outdoors is guiding open canoe expeditions in our remaining wild places, he holds advanced canoe leadership qualifications & is recognised by Paddle UK as an Endorsed Guide. He has led over a hundred multi-day open canoe journeys, countless canoe adventure days & has paddled white water rivers throughout the UK. Mal's guiding  has taken him to wilderness areas of Sweden & Norway, as well as numerous visits to some of the more remote areas of  Scotland and Ireland. In recent years Mal has spent a considerable amount of time exploring the area of coastal canoeing.

 

Mal has a strong interest in paddlesports coaching, he holds the BCAB Level 4 Performance Coach Canoe Award (Advanced Open Water) and offers bespoke canoe coaching days, he is also a provider / tutor for a range of Paddle UK safety and rescue, leadership & coaching awards.

 

When not paddling canoes Mal will likely be found in the mountains either at work or for leisure.

 

Marion Tabb is a small business owner and outdoor practitioner with over 13 years experience. She is a rock climbing instructor, underground leader & has a keen interest in all things Bushcraft & living outdoors.

 

Mal & Marion's work is delivered through M&M Outdoor Activity Services. In 2014 they founded what was to become the outdoor social enterprise Canoes, Mountains & Caves CIC and although no longer directors of the company, continue to support it's work. Alongside this they work in partnership with a number of outdoor providers across the North of England and in Scotland.

 

As well as expedition guiding & canoe coaching they provide freelance instruction services & technical / safety advice to a wide range of clients.

 

When not working in the outdoors they are Church Leaders working as part of the team at Elim Community Church, Carlisle - a thriving city centre Church.
